O’Sullivan made serene progress into the second round of the tournament today after a 6-3 win.

After compiling breaks of 80 and 117 in the first two frames, O'Sullivan was given a mini scare when Page hit back later on with a break of 65 to reduce the deficit to 5-3.

But O’Sullivan got over the finishing line with a stylish 105.

And O’Sullivan reserved special praise for Page after the match.

He said: “He is by far the best British junior I have seen.

“He has things to work on but once he does he will be very dangerous.

“I played OK, but it was nothing special."

Page meanwhile, thoroughly enjoyed playing against O’Sullivan, who he admired growing up.
