Nearly eight people lost their lives in a Cyclone Ockhi that hit the coastal Kerala and Tamil Nadu area. On Friday morning, Cyclone Ockhi is drifting 160 km east of Lakshadweep in the Arabian Sea. As per Met office, the most awful appears in the mainland and that the cyclone has shifted away from Kanyakumari and Thiruvananthapuram.

The forecasters have cautioned people of heavy rain in south Kerala in the coming hours. Due to the cyclone, schools in the coastal districts have been shut down. More than 80 fishermen from Kerala remain mislaid and are believed to be stuck at sea.

The cyclone disrupted various trains at Thiruvananthapuram and several other trains were delayed, cancelled or re-scheduled because of heavy rainfall.

As per the reports, five fishing boats are believed to have capsized near Lakshadweep’s Kalpeni island.

Since morning, the people of Kerala have been witnessing rainfall in Thiruvananthapuram.

In Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari, nearly four people lost their lives and dozens of houses were destroyed due to rainfall.
