NEW DELHI: A NITI Aayog-European Union panel has recommended setting up an inter-departmental committee and a task force of experts to suggest ways for efficient use of resources by the industry.

The report on 'Strategy on Resource Efficiency', released yesterday also suggested capacity development at various levels for strengthening of capacities and sharing of best practices.

It has also recommended launch of a short-term course on resource efficiency under the Ministry of Human Resource Development's (MHRD) Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) programme to promote efficient use of resources in production processes, according to an official statement.

The strategy paper was unveiled by principal adviser to NITI Aayog Ratan Watal, Indian resource panel member Tishyarakshit Chatterjee and EU counsellor Henriette Faergemann.

According to the statement, in his keynote address, Watal said resource efficiency is making more with fewer materials.
