RAJKOT: A woman, among seven persons who had been hospitalized after consuming contaminated water from a disused well in Meghapipalia village of Kukavav taluka in Amreli district on November 26, died on Thursday night.
Rajkot Civil Hospital officials identified the deceased as Lalita Barela (22). "Lalita along with Maya Raising (21), Surmi Labhu (25), Raisang Turasi (21), Turasi Narsing (45), Mukesh Dharmadia (14) and Jhumki Raising (5), had taken ill after they consumed water from a disused well on the outskirts of Meghapipalia village," an official from the hospital said.
The victims were first taken to Amreli Civil Hospital and from there shifted to Rajkot Civil Hospital. "The victims are tribals from Madhya Pradesh, who worked as farm labourers. Of the victims, the condition of the five-year-old girl is stable as she had consumed very little water," the official added.
