10 hurt in Habiganj attack over endowed land; 6 held

Habignaj: At least 10 people were injured in an attack on a Hindu family at Baniagaon in Bahubal upazila on Friday following a conflict over endowed land dispute. 

Police, however arrested six people in connection with the attack.

The arrested persons are: Mutabbir Hossain, Abdus Sattar, Bilat Miah, Abul Hossain, Fazlul Haque and Kasum Ali.

Quoting locals, police said one Gunendra Kor and his nephew Shudhanshu Kor had been at loggerhead over endowed land.

Shudhanshu and his brothers sold out the land to their co-villager Mutabbir Hossain without the consent of Gunendra.   

Mutabbir went to take possession of the land this morning, but obstructed by Gunendra.

As a sequel, Mutabbir and his men attacked Gunendra's house, leaving 10 people injured.

Officer in-Charge (OC) of Bahubal Police Station Masuk Ali confirmed the matter.
