BEACHES covered in white sand, stretching along a serene aquamarine sea – but can you guess which is based close to home here in the UK?

When you think of white sand, turquoise seas and incredible wildlife, you might think of the Caribbean or the Bahamas.
For all its merits, the United Kingdom isn’t the first place that springs to mind when you think of luxurious beaches.
However, these photos, compiled by Premier Inn, taken of beaches will likely make you change your mind.
While they look like exotic beaches in the Caribbean, they are in fact all in the UK – in Scotland, to be precise.

Langamull beach, Isle of Mull
Langamull beach on the Isle of Mull has been dubbed the “Mull Caribbean”, thanks to its resemblance to a Caribbean island beach.
While from afar the sand looks powdery and white, it is actually made up of larger seashells broken up into tiny pieces.
The beach is particularly secluded, taking a 20 minute walk to reach it, but it is worth the solitude and the magnificent views once you get there.
West Beach, Berneray
Find a variety of wildflowers, including rare orchids, on this huge three miles long stretch of beach, which is covered in sand made up of broken shells.

Mellon Udrigle, Wester Ross
This white sandy beach looks like it should be located in Mauritius or the Maldives – with its turquoise waters and flawless sands.
However, this beach, which is surrounded by sand dunes, offers beautiful views of the Highland mountains.
Luskentyre, Isle of Harris
Located of the west cost of South Harris in the Outer Hebrides, Luskentyre is one of the largest beaches in the whole of the Isle of Harris.
This unique place was also named as one of the UK’s best beaches in the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards.

North Coast of Iona
The tiny island of Iona, based in the inner Hebrides, is just 1.5 miles wide and 3 miles long.
Not only is it filled with stunning beaches, but also wildlife you might only expect to find abroad, such as dolphins, whales and puffins.
The Monks, Iona
Another white shell sand beach is Traigh Ban Nam Monach – Gaelic for “white strand of the monks” – based on the island of Iona.
It is a tranquil beach to get away during tourist season, and it is surrounded by towering black mountains which contrast strikingly with the sand.
