PATNA: Archana of BBA IIIrd year was declared the Best Athelete of the Year at the annual sports day of the Patna Women's College on Friday.
Sunita Kumari BCom IInd year bagged the Indoor Championship trophy. Tanya Vats of BCom IInd year won the badminton singles. Bhavinee Bhavya and Aparna Vasu of BA IInd year won the badminton doubles and Sunita Kumari of BCom IInd year became the table tennis champion.
In chess, Aarti (vocational IInd year) was declared the winner. The carom singles trophy went to Sunita Kumari of BCom IInd year whereas Surabhi Singh and Sunita Kumari of BCom IIIrd year won the carrom doubles.
BA IIIrd year team captained by Sonali Suriti won the basketball match and Rashi (BCom IIIrd year) and her team won the kho-kho contest. In kabaddi, BBA IIIrd year team captained by Archana emerged the winner, while the cricket match was won by BCom IIIrd year captained by Khushboo.
BCom IIIrd year student Soumya and team won the throw ball event and BA IInd year student Monika Priyadarshi and team bagged the volleyball trophy.
Nikita Kumari of BCom IIIrd year walked away with the winner's medals in javelin throw and shot put whereas BBA IInd year student Suranjana won the discus throw medal. Bhavinee Bhavya was declared the long jump, high jump and triple jump champs.
Archana of BBA IIIrd year won 400m race, 800m race, 100m hurdle race and 100m sprint whereas Archana Lakra of BA IInd year won the 200m race and 1500m race medals. Apoorva (BCA II) won the 1500m walk. Kusum Sharma (BA II) won the sack race medal and Anisha Kumari and Kusum of BA II year won the three-legged race.
Archana Kumari (BCom I) won the spoon and lemon race whereas Archana and Suranjana of BBA IIIrd year bagged the winner's medal in obstacle race. The team of Akanchha (BA II), Angela Anthony (BA III), Bhavinee (BA III) and Archana (BA II) got the medal in 400m relay race. Guriya Rani (BSc II) won the cycle race.
State minister Rana Randhir Singh was the chief guest.
Magadh Mahila College: Magadh Mahila College students formed a human chain outside the college premises to mark the World Aids Day on Friday. They also gave red ribbons to passersby to create awareness about the deadly Aids.
