The young prince and his new fiancée Meghan Markle were making their first public appearance as an engaged couple in Nottingham earlier today. 

Not one to miss a trick, ITV's This Morning sent Alison to get the depths of the action. 

Naturally, it was very busy and the regular had to fight her way to get near Prince Harry, 33.

Alison, 42, screamed: "Harry, Harry," as she tried to get a small snippet from him.

However, Harry was having none of it and could be seen visibly swerving as she forced her microphone in his face.

Presenters Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes were left chuckling as they joked about Alison being pied by the Prince. 

She did manage to get a small snippet off Meghan, 36, who gave This Morning her thanks following Alison's congratulations. 

However, viewers of the ITV show were unimpressed as some thought the team were "disrespectful" in the way they tried to get the royal's attention. 

One posted: "Alison Hammond bellowing at the royal family like a mad teenage fangirl-one of the most cringe worthy bits of tv I’ve ever seen #ThisMorning."

Another fumed: "It was embarrassing and disrespectful, she wouldn’t shout Liz at the queen so why shout megs at princess to be. If Harry swerving wasn’t obvious enough that it was cringe worthy tv, nothing will. They were there to see public not Alison live on #thismorning!"

A third added: "#ThisMorning I can't help but find @AlisonHammond2 shouting and screaming at 'harry' then 'megs' cringeworthy and a tad disrespectful."

However, some saw the funny side of the segment, as one praised Alison for her bold style of interviewing: "Cracking up at @AlisonHammond2 shouting at harry & Meghan absolutely crackers  I wanna be besties with her!! #hilarious #ThisMorning."

A second gushed: "@AlisonHammond2 I bloody love you, that attempt at a royal acknowledgment was hilarious “MEGS!! MEGS!!”  #ThisMorning #alisonisalegend."
