New Delhi : Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday fired third question at Prime Minister Modi on why pockets of four private companies filled with Rs 62,549 crore by buying electricity at exorbitant cost.

In his series on a question a day, Rahul said the capacity of the government power houses was reduced to the extent of 62% that provided power at Rs 3 per unit and bought it at Rs 24 per unit from the private companies.

“Janata ki kamayi kyon lutayi? (Why this loot of the people’s money),” Rahul asked.

The Congress also tweeted on “the false optics of the Sardar Sarovar Dam,” pointing out that though the PM supposedly inaugurated the dam in September, the farmers have called it a farce except for a media spectacle as the project is far from completed.

“Drought-prone areas of Bhavnagar, Botad and Surendranagar are left with broken promises, lack of accountability and flawed designs,” the Congress added.
