Messi: Barcelona star and Luis Suarez anger Ivan Rakitic over transfer plans

LIONEL MESSI and Luis Suarez have reportedly angered FC Barcelona star Ivan Rakitic over their desire for the club to land Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho.

Barcelona are likely to bid for Coutinho when the transfer window reopens next month, despite Liverpool rejecting three offers for their star asset back in the summer.

It has recently emerged the 25-year-old is wanted by members of the Barcelona squad, with Messi and Suarez determined to see him arrive.

But Spanish outlet Diario Gol claim Lionel Messi and Suarez’s determination to see Coutinho donning the famous red and blue shirt has not sat well with Rakitic.

The Croatia international has flitted in and out of the side ever since signing from Sevilla in 2014.

Rakitic has bundles of quality at his disposal but still, the likes of Sergio Busquets, Andres Iniesta and even Paulinho sit above him in the pecking order.

The Premier League has been mooted as a potential next destination with both Manchester clubs - as well as Liverpool - tipped to lure him away from Catalonia.

And Diario Gol say Rakitic may indeed leave should Barcelona land their man in Liverpool star Coutinho.

He is said to be unhappy at how two of Barcelona’s most influential men are pushing the club towards a January transfer deal.

And Rakitic supposedly feels he will be the fall guy should Coutinho arrive.

Meanwhile, Iniesta is not too happy with Messi and Suarez’s desire either.

But the veteran is aware his own days at the club are numbered and will therefore accept any Coutinho arrival.

Barcelona, however, have other deals in the works should they fail to sign the Brazilian from Liverpool.

Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil is one potential alternative.

The Germany international is out of contract at the end of the season and could return to La Liga next month.

Chelsea ace Willian is another being lined up for a January swoop.
