HENRI LANSBURY stepped off the bench to rescue a point for Aston Villa against Leeds United.

Leeds 1 Aston Villa 1: Henri Lansbury rescues point for VillaGETTY

Leeds vs Aston Villa

Pontus Jansson headed Leeds in front in the 19th minute and they held on until 71 minutes when Lansbury picked up a loose ball and drilled home.

Express Sport brought you all the action from Elland Road.

90+5: PEEP!

That’s it!

Henri Lansbury rescues a point for Aston Villa and Steve Bruce can be pleased with his double substitution changing the course of the game.

Thomas Christiansen will see this as a missed opportunity.

It was hardly a thriller.

90+4: SUBSTITUTION!

Jay-Roy Grot replaces Ezgjan Alioski.

I’ve never understood substitutions in the final minute…

90+2: BOOKING!

Alan Hutton sees yellow for a foul on Ezgjan Alioski.

90: There will be five minutes of additional time.

90: SUBSTITUTION!

Aston Villa winger Albert Adomah is replaced by Ahmed Elmohamady.

83: SUBSTITUTION!

Leeds bring on Hadi Sacko for Caleb Ekuban.

80: Cardiff are now 3-1 up against Norwich thanks to Omar Bogle’s strike.

78: Meanwhile, Norwich keeper Angus Gunn has saved a penalty from Joe Ralls at the Cardiff City Stadium.

77: BOOKING!

Samuel Saiz goes into the referee’s note book for a foul on Glenn Whelan.

74: BOOKING!

Pontus Jansson is back on after receiving treatment and his first act is to pull down Jack Grealish for a yellow card.

73: Leeds defender Pontus Jansson needed treatment in the aftermath of the goal after a bone-crunching 50/50 tackle with Neil Taylor.

71: GOAL!

Henri Lansbury draws Aston Villa level with his first goal for the club.

He picks up the loose ball around 30 yards from goal and strikes low at goal, it beats Felix Wiedwald and goes into the back of the net via the post.

68: CHANCE!

Leeds keeper Felix Wiedwald completely misses Robert Snodgrass’ corner, the ball falls to Henri Lansbury on the edge of the box but his shot is blocked.

65: DOUBLE SUBSTITUTION!

Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce hooks off Josh Onomah and Conor Hourihane.

Jack Grealish and Henri Lansbury come on in their place.

63: Meanwhile, at the Cardiff City Stadium, Junior Hoilett has fired the home side ahead.

62: GOA…NO!

Kemar Roofe chips a free kick into the box, Liam Cooper rises highest and heads into the net but the linesman raises his flag.

That would have been Cooper’s first goal in over two years.

57: CHANCE!

Liam Cooper storms out of the defence, picks out Samuel Saiz on the wing who fires a delicious cross into the box but Ezgjan Alioski and Caleb Ekuban both fail to turn the ball home.

55: SAVE!

Albert Adomah has been in fine scoring form of late but he cannot beat Felix Wiedwald from 10 yards.

Keinan Davis picks outs Adomah on the edge of the box, who dances past Luke Ayling before dragging his shot at Wiedwald.

52: There’s not too much happening at Elland Road but there’s been a development at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Joe Ralls has levelled for the home side from the penalty spot.

46: PEEP!

Aston Villa get us back underway in the second half at Elland Road.

Leeds vs Aston Villa

45+4: PEEP!

The referee blows the whistle for half time.

It's all been quite comfortable for Leeds so far with Aston Villa offering very little.

45+3: CHANCE!

Ezgjan Alioski picks out the unmarked Liam Cooper with the resulting free kick but the central defender heads over.

45+2: BOOKING!

Aston Villa’s former Leeds winger Robert Snodgrass sees yellow for a nasty tackle on Samuel Saiz.

It’s his fifth of the campaign.

45: There will be three minutes of additional time.

42: SUBSTITUTION!

Leeds winger Pablo Hernandez pulls up with an injury so Kemar Roofe is on to replace him.

Incidentally, the fourth official’s electronic board isn’t working.

39: Caleb Ebukan is the enjoying the physical battle here - he outmuscles Glenn Whelan and knocks a ball into the box for Samuel Saiz but the Leeds playmaker cannot hold it up.

33: CHANCE!

Robert Snodgrass picks out Keinan Davis on the byline, the Aston Villa striker pulls off a clever trick and cuts the ball back for the onrushing Glenn Whelan, who has the goal at his mercy… but he strokes it wide.

That was a pitiful effort from the veteran midfielder.

30: Caleb Ekuban picks out Samuel Saiz behind Aston Villa’s defence but he hesitates and runs out of space to shoot at goal.

Instead, he cuts the ball back for Ekuban but Chris Samba is there to clear.

27: BOOKING!

Conor Hourihane picks up a yellow card after catching Ronaldo Vieira on the hip with his boot.

Vieira is down receiving treatment.

23: The Leeds fans are in full voice now, bellowing out ‘Marching On Together’.

19: GOAL!

Pablo Hernandez fires a corner to the near post, Pontus Jansson holds off Chris Samba and heads home from six yards.

Advantage Leeds!

18: SAVE!

It’s another weak effort from Aston Villa.

Keinan Davis sees a shot blocked, the ball falls to Robert Snodgrass, who attempts a daisy cutter but he fails to generate much power.

15: Pablo Hernandez teases the ball into the box and Sam Johnstone pulls away his hands.

Fortunately, his error goes unpunished as Kalvin Phillips smacks the ball over the bar.

14: Aston Villa are playing on the break and nearly get a chance but Conor Hourihane’s cross is fired straight at Felix Wiedwald.

8: SAVE!

Alan Hutton smacks a loose pass across the pitch, Albert Adomah manages to get on the end of it, he drives into the box and strikes at goal but it’s a weak shot and is easy for Felix Wiedwald to gather up.

4: Aston Villa’s injured skipper John Terry is in the stands at Elland Road.

He was up at 6am this morning undergoing the latest stage of his rehabilitation process.

3: A decent start by Leeds, who are piling the pressure on Aston Villa’s defence.

Samuel Saiz and Ezgjan Alioski are already looking lively.

1: PEEP!

Leeds playmaker Samuel Saiz gets us underway.

Leeds vs Aston Villa

7.45pm: The players emerge from the tunnel and go through the pre-match handshakes.

We are moments away from kick off.

7.30pm: Fancy a flutter?

Well, here are the odds thanks to our friends at Betsafe.

Leeds: 9/5

Draw: 21/10

Aston Villa: 17/10

It’s almost too close to call.

7.15pm: Leeds have a pretty woeful record against the current top six.

They have suffered defeats against Wolves, Cardiff, Sheffield United and Derby, with their only win coming against Bristol City.

7.00pm: Albert Adomah is the man to watch for Leeds United.

The Aston Villa winger has scored five goals in three games and he has earned his team 11 points this season.

Only Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp has been more important for his team.

6.45pm: The line ups have been released, and Thomas Christiansen and Steve Bruce have both made one change to their starting XIs.

Leeds: Wiedwald; Ayling, Jansson, Cooper, Berardi; Phillips, Vieira; Alioski, Saiz, Hernandez; Ekuban

Subs: Lonergan, Pennington, Shaughnessy, Anita, Grot, Sacko, Roofe

Aston Villa: Johnstone; Taylor, Chester, Samba, Hutton; Whelan, Hourihane; Snodgrass, Onomah, Adomah; Davis

Subs: Steer, De Laet, Elphick, Elmohamady, Bjarnason Lansbury, Grealish

6.30pm: Leeds will be without Stuart Dallas (ankle) and Pierre-Michel Lasogga (leg) tonight while Eunan O’Kane (hip) is a doubt.

Aston Villa are missing John Terry (metatarsal), Jonathan Kodjia (ankle), Scott Hogan (stomach) and Mile Jedinak (shoulder).

6.15pm: Aston Villa legend Ian Taylor does not believe a defeat would spell doom for his old club's promotion hopes.

“I think it’s going to be a difficult game,” he told Express Sport.

“I know that because Leeds are doing OK, we’re doing OK.

“It’s live on the TV and I think there’s going to be quite a few eyes on the game, so it’ll be interesting.

“There’s still a long way to go. There’s been other times, especially last season, where there’s been certain games you could use as a yardstick but I’m not sure whether this is one because it’s still early in the season.

“It’s away from home, it’s against one of the teams that have been fancied to make a challenge to go up so it would be nice to win but I wouldn’t say it’s the be all and end all of our season if we don’t get the right result.”

“The fans will be a big part for us tomorrow.

“It's important to take two wins in a row and this is our mission.”

5.45pm: Steve Bruce believes this would be a standout fixture in the Premier League, let alone the Championship.

“Aston Villa against Leeds United would grace any league,” he said at his pre-match press conference.

“There's big support, big history and big tradition at both clubs.

“It's bound to be a hostile atmosphere, too.

“It's a really great game to be involved in.”

6.00pm: Thomas Christiansen has described this as a “six-point game” for Leeds.

“They are a very tough and strong opponent and we need to be at the level we were against Middlesbrough if we want to take the three points,” he said.

“It is a game with similar situations (to Middlesbrough).

5.30pm: Good evening and welcome to Express Sport’s live coverage of Leeds vs Aston Villa.

More than 30,000 fans are expected at Elland Road for the game between two of the Championship’s biggest clubs.

Villa are in supreme form, having won nine of their last 12 games, and they will hope to continue their ascent up the Championship table.

Leeds, meanwhile, have stopped the rot and could break back into the top six with a win.

We will have breaking team news at 6.45pm.
