Issues related to specially- abled persons need to be redressed without delay, said the State president of National Platform for Disabled Rights and Duties Amit Dobhal while addressing the media persons in Dehradun on Thursday.
He said that he has written a letter to the Chief Minister asking for prompt redressal of their concerns. According to him, a large number of divyangs are being deprived of their rights in the State.
“Their voices are not being heard out and they are being exploited. Worried over the matter, we have formulated a nine- point charter of demands for the welfare of the specially abled persons which include special disabled pension of Rs 3500 per month and pension of Rs 5000 to be given to those whose disability is 60 per cent.
Besides, the vacant posts reserved for specially abled persons should be filled up without delay through launching a special campaign and special educators should be appointed in all the schools to provide education to such persons.
Employment should be provided to those whose partners are disabled. A Divyang Bhawan should be built in Dehradun and an empowered State Divyang Welfare Committee should be formed. This aside, we are demanding relaxation in educational qualification on the pattern of SC/ST category for the divyang people.
Loan on zero percent interest rate should also be provided to them and special assistance should be given to the families with two or more physically challenged members,” Dobhal said. He said the government should something special for them.
