Dimapur, Dec. 1 (EMN): MLA of 4 Ghaspani-I Jacob Zhimomi has expounded that sound and quality education is a fundamental requirement for a society to grow and insisted on infrastructural development for a proper education.
Addressing the students, teachers, departmental officials, parents and public leaders at the inauguration of a new school building of Government Higher Secondary School in Niuland town on November 30, Jacob appreciated the department (RMSA) for its concern for development of schools.
Emphasising on the important role of parents and teachers to guide the students, chief guest encouraged them to work in cohesion in order to achieve the desired results from students. He also encouraged the students to have keen desire to learn and put their desire into practice through hard work. He said success cannot be acquired overnight.
Lamenting that proxy teaching system is one serious issue that is confronting the education system in the state, Jacob suggested curbing the menace saying quality education cannot be compromised at any cost.
Special invitees, Kevizakie Rio, Joint Mission Director of RMSA, and R Amongla Jamie, DDEO Dimapur, also spoke on the occasion. A Mughali Sema, principal and chairperson of school building committee, presented a brief report of the school. Pastor of Sumi Baptist Church, Niuland, offered a prayer for the new building dedication while the function was chaired by P Aienla Longkumer, vice principal of the school.
