New Delhi: The Indian team doesn't have a great record to show in South Africa, but the current team does have the potential to give a tough fight to the South Africans. Of late, there have been talks about India's preparation for the tour to South Africa, but chief coach Ravi Shastri has said that it will be a good opportunity for the team to prove themselves.

Speaking at the CNN-News18 Indian of the Year 2017, Shastri said, "South Africa tour will be an opportunity to prove ourselves. The key to success abroad is consistency. And this team has it in them to win abroad. I don't see any reason why these boys can't perform."

In the ongoing Test series between India and Sri Lanka, skipper Virat Kohli had said, "Had we got a month off ideally, we would have done a proper preparation in a camp sort of scenario but we have to sort of make do with what we have."

"As usual cramped for time, which I think we needed to assess in future as well because we very easily assess the team when go abroad but we don't look at how many days we have got to prepare before we go to a particular place to play."
