Missing Natore priest rescued from Sylhet

The missing priest from Natore has been rescued from Sylhet, nearly five days after being abducted from the northern district and demands for ransom.

Priest Walter William Rozario said to have fled from the custody of the kidnappers today and got in touch with his family, his elder brother Bimal Rozariao said.

He told our Natore correspondent that Walter called up their younger brother Amol Rozario from in front of Shymoli bus counter of Sylhet’s South Surma upazila.

Police have already rescued Walter from the place around 3:00pm, he said.

Biblop Bijoy Talukdar, superintendent of police in Natore, said a joint team of Natore and Sylhet police recued Priest Walter from Surma upazila this afternoon.

Father Walter William Rozario, 40, assistant parish priest of Bornimariabad Catholic Church in Baraigram, went missing Monday afternoon.

On Wednesday, his family members said that miscreants demanded Tk 3 lakh as ransom over mobile phone for release of the priest.
