SAMASTIPUR: Four members of a family, including two women, were killed in a fire that broke out in the house of automobile spare parts dealer Sunil Dua in Ghose Lane in Samastipur after Thursday-Friday midnight.

The fire, suspected to have been caused by short circuit, engulfed the entire house. The deceased, who had been sleeping, could not escape apparently because it was darkness and smoke all around, police said and added only Dua's son Shivam (25) somehow managed to come out of the house.

On getting information, fire tenders rushed to the spot. The Samastipur SDO, SDPO and other officials also reached the locality, but to no avail.

The deceased were, besides 50-year-old Dua, his wife Saroj (45), his father Ramlal Dua (70) and Baby Sethi (65), a relative.

Incidentally, a fire had broken out in Dua's shop located in the Gola Bazar area of the town and caused massive destruction. However, no one was killed then.
