Suspected Jaish-e-Muhammad militants open fire on security forces.

Four militants have been killed and three civilians injured in an ongoing operation in central Kashmir's Budgam on Thursday.

A army jawan was injured in a separate encounter in Baramulla on Thursday.

An Army spokesman said four militants were killed in the encounter at Futlipora, Pakharpora of Budgam district. "The operation continues in the area," said the spokesman.

Earlier in the day, the militants opened fire on a search party of the security forces, triggering an encounter. A police official said the identity of the militants is being ascertained.  "We believe they belong to Jaish-e-Muhammad outfit," said the official.

Meanwhile, three civilians sustained injuries near the encounter site. Local hospital sources said one civilian sustained bullet injuries, while two were hit by pellets during clashes between the security forces and local youth. One vehicle was also set on fire by protesters.

Sopore encounter on

In a separate encounter at Baramulla, one soldier was injured as security forces launched an operation to flush out militants at Sagipora forest in Sopore.

The search party came under fire during the combing operation. "A contact has been established and the exchange of fire is on," said an official.
