At least 27 people injured in Spain as train derails

(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MADRID, Nov 29 (KUNA) -- At least 27 people were injured when a train derailed south of Spain, Spanish TV said, adding that two of the wounded are in serious condition.

Some 25 cases received medical treatment at the site of the incident, while the two others were taken by a helicopter to a nearby hospital, it added.

The train derailed just before crossing a bridge due to a large amount of mud which accumulated after heavy showers, it noted.

The Andalusia region witnessed heavy rains accompanied by a sharp drop in temperature on Tuesday, so several accidents have occurred.

Spain has been suffering from a severe drought over the last period. (end) nhd.hm
