Seeking a reciprocal gesture from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Samajwadi Party Muslim mascot Azam Khan said 'Muslims consider Lord Rama and Lord Krishna as their ancestors and the CM should also accept Prophet Mohammed as ancestors of the Hindus'.
``Muslims know that the Lord Rama and Lord Krishna and not the Mughals were their ancestors. Yogi Adityanath should also accept that Prophet Mohammed was the ancestor of Hindus,’’ said Khan while campaigning for Urban Local Bodies elections in Sambhal on Monday.
Khan also targeted Yogi for launching poll campaign from Ayodhya.
"Its for the first time that a CM is actively campaigning for ULB poll and he chose a place to launch the campaign which is known for dispute which is pending in the Supreme Court. He could have also launched it from a place known around the globe for love and amity,’’ said Khan.
It’s not the first time that Khan has fired a salvo aimed at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Earlier in March, he had asked the CM if he would 'prefer to offer namaz' as the had said that it was similar to 'surya namaskar'.
Khan had responded to the CM's claim that all asanas (postures) in surya namaskar, pranayama activities were similar to the manner namaz is offered by Muslims. Yogi had also stated that nobody ever tried to bring the two together as few people were interested only in ‘bhoga’ not yoga.
When Yogi Adityanath was elected to the Legislative Council, the SP leader had commented, `` The CM can not win Assembly election from Gorakhpur and hence so he opted for the soft option and got elected to the Upper House.’’
Meanwhile at the poll meeting at Sambhal, Khan claimed victory of Samnajwadi Party candidates in theULB poll across the state. He said, "SP candidate will win from the ward in Gorakhpur where temple of Gorakshnath Peeth is situated.’’ Yogi Adityanath is the Mahant of the Peeth in Gorakhpur.
