The Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (CECB) has served a notice to Project Director of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) while asking why action should not be taken against him for not controlling dust during the four laning work of the Raipur-Bilaspur National Highway.
The CECB in a press release have in the notice questioned why four laning work of the highway should not be stopped.
Similar notices have been served to authorities involved in the upgrade of Vidhan Sabha road, Main Road of Pandri, Ama Seoni-Saddu road, Narrow guage line , Pandri, Khamardih road and Shankar Nagar for not controlling air pollution, it informed.
CECB is in the process of preparing a concrete action plan for controlling pollution in the entire State including Raipur.
This was informed by officials in the 41st Board meeting of CECB chaired by Principal Secretary, Housing and Environment Aman Kumar Singh in Naya Raipur in July this year.
On the other hand, Chhattisgarh Infotech Promotion Society (CHiPS) will establish an integrated real time online monitoring system for monitoring the stack emission, ambient air and effluent parameters from the various industries located across Chhattisgarh, officials informed. The objective is to acquire accurate and high integrity real time measurements of the emission and Ambient air parameters directly from the analysers installed at the industry site.
It will also set up a unified web based access controlled platform accessible from CECB Headquarters, regional offices and all Industry sites in the state based on the provided authorisation level.
Notably, CECB has already completed the listing of hazardous wastes generating unit as per amended Hazardous Wastes (Management & Handling) Rules, 1989.
Total of 144 of units are generating hazardous wastes in the state. The Board has granted authorization to these units for collection, reception, treatment, transport, storage and disposal, officials informed.
The Hazardous Wastes generating units in the state includes mainly Cement Plants, Iron and Steel Plants, Fertilizer Plants, Aluminum Plant, Power Plants, Waste Processing Units, Mine Workshops & Wire Drawing Units. The hazardous Wastes generated from these units are mainly used/waste oil, oil sludge, cathode residues, tar residue, lead & zincash/slag/dross, sulphur sludge etc.
Notably, Chhattisgarh is among 16 other states in the country which had implemented advanced automated solutions to deal with environmental and pollution related applications and approvals, the Central Government had informed earlier.
These solutions provide hassle free, 24 X 7 'e-access' to businesses to apply online, track applications, file returns and statements and get online permissions under various Acts and regulations.
The states include-- Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal.
Notably, the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in partnership with the World Bank Group had released the results of the Assessment of State Implementation of Business Reforms 2015-16.
The Assessment studies extent to which states have implemented DIPP’s 340-point Business Reform Action Plan (BRAP) for States/UTs 2015-16, covering the period July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016.
