Naidu claims credit for Hyderabad metro

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu claimed credit for the sanction of the Hyderabad metro railway and said it was he who got it included in the list of cities for which the metro projects were conceived by the Central government.

In an informal chat with the mediapersons on Wednesday, Mr. Naidu said the metro railways were initially planned only for Ahmedabad and Bangalore (as it was called then) when he intervened and got Hyderabad on board.

The Hyderabad metro was delayed due to the inefficiency of the Congress government headed by Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, he observed. Mr. Naidu also recalled the efforts he had made to get the HITEX and the Shamshabad international airport.
