Karwar: The two day district level pro-kabaddi tournament will be held from September 30 at Maladevi ground, said, MLA Satish Sail.

Briefing reporters, on Wednesday, he said, District In-charge Minister R V Deshpande will inaugurate the tournament.

He said that the tournament was organized during Ganesh Chaturthi festival. However, it was postponed due to rain.

 

Eight teams

Siddar College Principal G P Naik said, there are eight teams participating and players selection process has been already completed.

The franchises have taken in-charge of food, accommodations, training and other facilities.

Each team has 12 players and totally 96 players are expected to play Kabaddi.

The team captain, vice-captain, district level player and taluk level players are being paid Rs 4,000 and Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 respectively. The national and international level players have been invited to take part in pro-kabaddi competitions. All the measures have been taken to make arrangements with an approximate expenditure of Rs 20 lakh, he quoted.

District Amateur Association President Sadanand Naik said, the first, second, third and fourth team winners of the Pro Kabbadi will be awarded with Rs 40,000, Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
