HYDERABAD: Manushi Chhillar, who recently won the coveted Miss World title, shocked guests and panelists on Wednesday saying gender inequality does not exist in the society, but only in minds of people. She said this while being interviewed by movie producer and entrepreneur Ronnie Screwvala. “Gender inequality is in everyone’s head. I was never treated differently at home for being a girl,” she said. “Everyone has to face challenges in life and everyone has an opportunity to make a difference,” she said. Later however, she added that if men start treating women equally, gender inequality can be effectively dealt with.

Chhillar, who is a medical graduate, said she was interested in pursuing a career in medicine. “I want to become a cardiac surgeon,” she said. When asked if she was interested in pursuing a career in movies and show business, she said she is keeping her options open. “It will be very interesting to don to role of an actor in life.”

Chhillar said that entering the world of beauty pageants and winning the title of Miss World is not a detour from her path of pursuing medicine but an ‘ingression’ because as a Miss World also she will be serving people not just in India but across the world in different continents. She said that she is already worked on the issue of menstrual hygiene in 20 villages and continue to do so.
