HYDERABAD: US President’s advisor Ivanka Trump got a glimpse into the history of India when she visited the historic Golconda Fort here on Wednesday afternoon. In the 45 minutes, she spent there, Ivanka was taken to Rani Mahal, terrace above the stable and the part of the fort where sound & light show is organised. During her visit, Ivanka was shown different parts of the fort by Jonty Rajagopalan, founder , Detours India.

“She wanted to know how Old City is different from Golconda Fort and other places to see,” Jonty said. However, Ivanka did not stay back for dinner hosted by the State government at the fort.
In fact, instead of paying a visit to the majestic Charminar, US president’s daughter preferred to go round the historic Golconda Fort, a citadel and fort which was the capital of the medieval sultanate of the Qutb Shahi dynasty from 1518 to 1687 AD.

Before flying back to her home, the 36-year-old advisor to the US president spent around 45 minutes at the fort, amid tight security. She tried to know the details about history and construction style of the citadel. “Ivanka Trump was amazed by the scale of construction of the historic fort,” an official said.

When Ivanka was going around the historic fort, a woman guide briefed here about the history of the citadel. Ivanka was explained that the 16th century fort was first built by Kaktiyas and later was fortified with three lines of strong walls by three Qutb Shahi Kings between 1518 to 1687. Interestingly, during her visit to Golconda Fort, conversed with Additional Commissioner (Crimes & SIT) Swati Lakra, who is also in-charge of the Hyderabad SHE teams, to learn about the initiatives taken up for safety of women.

Swati Lakra, who was put as in-charge of the security at the fort for the sequents of programmes was accompanying Ivanka throughout her stay at the fort. After visiting the clapping-point, Rani Mahal, view-point, lights and sounds show area, Ivanka spoke to Swati Lakra.
