Barcelona and Manchester United look set to fight it out for Griezmann at the end of the season, with the striker likely to turn his back on Atletico Madrid.

The France international was expected to move to the Premier League back in the summer but, after Atletico were slapped with a transfer ban, he ultimately opted to remain.

However, with just three goals to his name, talk is rife that Griezmann is fed up with life at Atletico and will leave at the end of the season.

And Spanish outlet Don Balon claim Barcelona think Griezmann may be using their interest to broker a move to Manchester United instead.

The forward’s transfer saga has been going on for over a year.

United were heavily tipped to try and sign Griezmann after Euro 2016 but, after placing their faith in Zlatan Ibrahimovic, they opted to bide their time.

That tactic appeared to have backfired in the summer when Atletico’s transfer ban prevented a transfer.

Yet Don Balon say United may actually still be the striker’s preferred choice.

Griezmann has supposedly given Barcelona an ultimatum - to quicken their pace or face missing out.

And manager Ernesto Valverde is concerned it is simply all a ploy in order to seal a dream move to United.

Earlier this month, Griezmann admitted a transfer to the Red Devils was a possibility.

“I have nothing against England, apart from the weather, Manchester United is a possibility,” he said.

"In June 2017 I prolonged my contract. I am tied to the club until 2022. 

“Although I missing titles, here I have everything to be happy. This does not mean they do not go away one day.”
