PATNA: The state hospitals will soon have platelet separators for treatment of those suffering from dengue and chikungunya, said health minister Mangal Pandey while replying to a question by BJP MLC Nawal Kishore Yadav in the legislative council on Tuesday.
Yadav had raised the issue of the rise in dengue cases and inability of state machinery to tackle the problem effectively. Pandey admitted more dengue and chikungunya cases this year compared to previous year, but said the health department under the guidance of its principal secretary was keeping an eye on the situation. He said there was no written complaint about dengue death due to lack of platelets.
RJD MLC Subodh Rai criticised the minister for his absence in the state when people were suffering from dengue. "You were enjoying the serene beauty of Himachal Pradesh and people were dying of dengue in the state," said Subodh to which Pandey said former health minister Tej Pratap Yadav had ruined the health department and made it sick and never cared to visit his department.
Yadav also raised the issue of lack of trauma centre in the state and claimed that 80% of the road accident victims die because of that. Pandey said nine places have been marked for opening trauma centres and MoU for six has been signed with the central government. The centres will be ready in a year, he said.
On clearing of dues of sugar cane farmers, deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi seconded the sugar cane industries minister Feroz Alam, saying the government was making efforts to solve the problem and directly transfer money into the bank account of farmers.
Council's deputy chairman Haroon Rashid informed the members that House proceedings were being webcast from Tuesday.
