UAE- Martyrs represent best examples of sacrifice, says Al Qubaisi

ABU DHABI, 29th November, 2017 (WAM) -- Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council, FNC, has said that Commemoration Day ('Martyrs' Day') is a glorious national occasion where on which we honour our martyrs who represented the best models in sacrifice, love of nation and wise leadership.

In a statement on the occasion of Commemoration Day which falls on 30th November, Dr. Al Qubaisi said that the UAE lives a historic national day and stressed that Al Bayt Mitwahid, a "Successful Union", is one in which strong national cohesion between the wise leadership and the Emirati people is reflected. "We can feel every Emirati is ready to defend his homeland," she said.

She added that Commemoration Day exemplifies a vivid historic national event that reflects the acts of our champions, our martyrs, and proves that the UAE soldiers are the strong shield of the country who work for its security in time of hardships.

She noted that Commemoration Day, declared by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, confirms that the country will not forget its sons who sacrificed their lives to defend it on the battlefield.

The FNC Speaker voiced her respect to the martyrs of the UAE who have sacrificed their lives and have showed acts of patriotism for the coming generation. She stressed that martyrdom for the sake of the homeland is an honour for every UAE citizen.

She added that this event comes while our Armed Forces hoist the country's flags that reflect their national achievements. She extended her thanks and appreciation to members of the armed forces and said that, "thanks to the UAE Armed Forces, the country enjoys security and a shining future."

Dr. Al Qubaisi said that Commemoration Day exemplifies unity, love and cohesion between the people of the UAE and the country's wise leadership, especially President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the Supreme Council Members, Their Highnesses Rulers of the Emirates. This reflects the wise leadership's immense respect and honour for martyrs, she said.

"We live important national moments which indicate that we are ready to sacrifice ourselves for the sake of our homeland and leadership and we are united to defend our loved homeland against enemies,"Dr. Al Qubaisi said.

She prayed to Allah to preserve the UAE in the hearts of everyone, under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

She extended her greetings to every Emirati father, mother, wife, son and daughter who represented a role model of sacrifice, giving and cohesion. She added that "we are proud of the mothers of the martyrs and their names will be immortal in the history of the UAE." They provided evidence, she said, of the deep national awareness of Emirati women and their ability to provide an honourable model of patriotism and giving.

She expressed her appreciation and that of FNC members and the Emirati people for the martyrs and prayed to Allah Almighty to preserve the UAE's leadership and people.

She concluded that the UAE Armed Forces are the country's strong shield in the present and future, adding that their members presented a role model in self-sacrifice and in support of raising high the country's flag.
