Man Utd news: Ashley Young reacts to his two wonder-strikes against Watford

ASHLEY YOUNG bagged a brace on his return to Watford - and boy he was delighted.

YoungGETTY

Ashley Young scored his first goals in over 18 months.

Manchester United ran out 4-2 winners at Vicarage Road but it was Young who got the ball rolling with two magnificent solo goals.

Young struck his first goal in 18 months with a thunderous low drive which gave Heurelho Gomes no chance.

And his second was even better - a 25-yard free-kick which curled exquisitely into the top corner.

The England international could have broken his duck against Brighton on Saturday, but his match-winning effort went down as an own goal after taking a huge deflection off Lewis Dunk.

The full-back curled home a free-kick for his second goal.

Of course it's always nice to get on the scoresheet, especially when you haven't been on it for a while.

But there is no doubt about latest two as Jose Mourinho’s side avoided potential banana skin to secure back-to-back wins.

"Of course it's always nice to get on the scoresheet, especially when you haven't been on it for a while like me,” Young said.

“I tried to get on it the other day, and I couldn't claim it in the end, but i'll definitely be claiming those two.

“At the end of the day it was just important to get the three points, so we're pleased to do that.

Manchester United now trail league-leaders Manchester City by five points.

Pep Guardiola's side have the chance to restore their eight-point cushion against Southampton tomorrow (8pm).
