With pandemonium continuing in the well, Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat adjourned the House first till 3 pm and later for the day. After the first adjournment, the ruling BJD members marched to Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum to the Governor addressed to the President demanding hike in minimum support price (MSP) of paddy.
When the House reassembled at 3 pm, Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra of Congress alleged that the House was being adjourned in a planned manner to avoid a discussion on the farmers issues. Mishra also alleged that the Leader of Opposition was not allowed to speak in the House despite several attempts.
"Since yesterday, I have given notice for taking up a motion relating to the farmers issues and an adjournment motion has also been given by the Chief Whip of Congress on the same matter. But, unfortunately, You (Speaker) neither allow me to have a say in the House not you allow the motion or adjournment motion to be discussed," Mishra said.
Blaming the ruling BJD for wasting of public money due to no business in the House, Mishra said the list of business of the House on November 28 and November 29, says that there has been no government business. "Still the Speaker did not allow discussion on either the motion or adjournment motion on farmers issue," Mishra said.
He said, the ruling party members rushed to Raj Bhavan and submitted memorandum to the President of India as if they are alone the champions of farmers causes. Mishra said as the opposition is ignored and their motions are not being accepted by the Speaker, the Congress members have no business to participate in the proceeding. "We are walking out in protest," he said.
Similarly, BJP legislature party leader K V Singhdeo also supported Mishra and his party MLAs also walked out of the House in protest. The Speaker adjourned the House till tomorrow after some papers were laid by ministers.
