NOIDA: The three-member ministerial cabinet committee put into place by the Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Aditynath has summoned the chiefs of Noida and Greater Noida Authorities on December 4 to India International Center New Delhi for a review meeting on delivery status of flats to home buyers. In August this year, the committee consisting of UP industries minister Satish Mahana, urban housing minister Suresh Khanna and state minister (independent charge) of cane development and sugar mills Suresh Rana had been promised that home buyers would get 50,000 homes "at any cost" by December 31, 2017.
According to officials, both authorities have been putting into place hectic preparations for the meeting including holding a review meeting in their respective offices to draw up the numbers of flats which will be delivered to the home buyers by the designated date.
In Greater Noida, since August 2017, 35 builders had requisitioned for completion certificates. However since September this year, about 5000 home buyers have been handed over possession of their homes. Once possession of all projects is done, about 20,000 home buyers will get possession of their flats in Greater Noida, officials said.
In Noida on the other hand, since August, the Authority has cleared 2334 flats up to September 11, 2017. In October last month, three group housing projects with 1564 units had been cleared and handed over to builders. Another 20 projects are likely to be completed by November with 2166 flats while yet another 20 will complete with 3249 units by December 2017. A total of about 10,756 flats have been promised by the Noida builders to hand over by the end of this year, said Noida Authority officials.
Officials of both Authorities further said that as directed by the CM, they will not be lenient with the builders if they fail to deliver the rest flats as they have promised. "We had been asked to give builders of all pending projects an ultimatum that if they fail to deliver as per schedule, strict action is on the cards for them and we will not shy away from that," said A K Rai, Additional CEO, Noida Authority. "A complete review and status of all projects and hand over of flats will be provided to the cabinet committee on December 4," he said. "Also no undue benefits will be provided to the builders. The focus is on delivery of homes to buyers," added an official from Greater Noida Authority.
