Cash, jewellery worth Rs 80 lakh stolen during big fat wedding
A bag containing cash, Jewellery worth Rs 80 from was stolen during a wedding ceremony at plush Leela Hotel on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. The complainant accused the hotel staff stealing the jewellery.
The complainant, SD Bhushan Sahani, a resident of NRI Residency in Noida’s Sector-45, in his complaint to the police, stated that his bag containing cash and Jewellery worth of Rs 80 lakh was stolen from the ballroom of the hotel in the upscale DLF-3 area while a wedding function was going on.
The victim had kept the bag on a sofa at the wedding venue. Around 1 pm, he took a nap and later, he found the bag was missing. He raised an alarm and informed the hotel staff.
Sahani alleged that he told the hotel staff that somebody has stolen his bag containing expensive jewellery and instructed them to close the entry gate of the venue and try to find out the bag but they didn’t pay heed on his request and later the police were called at the incident spot.
During the probe, the police came to know that the two staffers of the hotel crew team went missing soon after the incident from the function. Also, some of the CCTV cameras installed in the hotel were not functional. Just two CCTVs were installed in the 9,000 square feet hall, where the main function was held.
“A case has been registered against the hotel management for security lapses under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). We are collecting the information about the duo staffer from the hotel management. Also, some footage of the cameras is also being scanned.
The questioning to the other staff members will also be carried out. Further probe is underway the accused will be arrested soon,” Sudip Kumar, Station House Officer (SHO) of DLF Phase-II police station, said.
