There appears to be a simmering conflict between the executive and the judiciary, with some fundamental issues at the core of it ( Editorial – “Sink your differences”, November 28). Judicial overreach/activism, the perceived inertia of the government in public affairs, and an opacity in judicial appointments are some issues. If the executive and the judiciary are to sink their differences, the responsibility rests more with the judiciary. A person must be living under a stone if he thinks that judicial appointments are completely on the basis of merit. So long as the judiciary insists on the current judicial appointments system continuing, the executive will be seen to be in disagreement with the judiciary.
