National Flag Day marked across UAE

Sharjah: National Flag Day was marked across the country today with the UAE flag being hoisted in the sky by members of the UAE community.

The occasion, which marks the accession of His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the office of President of the UAE, also witnessed a number of cultural shows and activities carried out to manifest unity, love and loyalty between everyone

Answering the call of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai for a simultaneous UAE flag raising on November 2, many institutes, ministries, schools and government bodies raised the UAE flag together at 11am to show their appreciation to their homeland.

In Sharjah, Flag Island had the largest single gathering of people in the UAE for the raising of the country’s flag on the seventh tallest flagpole in the world.

The celebration included traditional music shows inspired by Emirati heritage and marine shows among other activities.

Flag Day is a day of celebration, reflecting a symbol of unity, patriotism and loyalty to the UAE and its wise leadership, and adherence to the values of the union established by the UAE’s Founding Fathers.
