Bourses open on downbeat note

Trading on the country's two bourses - Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - is underway with downward trends of share-price indices on Wednesday.

After first one hour of the day's trading, the benchmark index of the DSE shed 6.09 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 26.68 points.

DSEX, the Broad Index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 6.09 points or 0.09 percent to stand at 6,266 at 11:46 am.

The two other indices also edged lower.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 1.30 points or 0.09 percent to stand at 1,380 points.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips declined 2.69 points or 0.11 percent to stand at 2,252.52.

Trade deals stood at 42,544 shares to stand at Tk 2,229.91 million on the DSE, riding on Shahjalal Islami Bank and National Tubes.

Of the issues traded, 136 advanced, 104 declined and 62 remained unchanged.

Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 192.09 million having changed hands.

Following the suit, the Chittagong Stock Exchange Selective Categories Index (CSCX) climbed down to 26.68 by losing over 26.68 points at about 11:46 am.

Out of the issues traded, 68 gained, 75 declined and 20 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 107 million.
