BENGALURU: Police on Wednesday arrested three persons including the grandson of an elderly couple who were murdered at their residence in Ashwathnagar, Marthahalli.

The arrested have been identified as Pramod, grandson of the deceased couple, his friends Praveen and Hasan Pasha. Police said that while arresting Hasan Pasha, they had to fire at his leg after he attacked the police officials near Yamalur. Pasha and a police official are admitted in a hospital.

On Tuesday evening, bodies of Govindan K (65), a former employee of Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and his wife Saroja (60) were found in their house. The couple was stabbed multiple times.

The accused had murdered the couple on November 26 around 3 pm and had locked the house from the outside, said deputy commissioner of police Whitefield Abdul Ahad.

Whitefield division police had formed three teams to nab the accused. The police suspect that the couple was killed over property dispute. Saroja's father owned 50 acres of land in Whitefield and Varthur but after his death, Sarojamma and her brother had issues on how the property should be shared. The couple wanted to return to Tamil Nadu shortly, prior to their murder.
