16:32(IST)

Vijay plays out yet another maiden over, he is on 1 off 27 balls, not that it will worry him. 1 over left for the day and he will be hoping that his contribution for the day is done! Gamage to bowl the final over of the day.

16:27(IST)

Another maiden over, as Vijay shows his perfect front foot defence. India 8/1 after 6 overs here.

16:23(IST)

Vijay finally gets off the mark on the 15th delivery he faces, both Vijay and Rahul will be happy to play out the day here and start again tomorrow. India 8/1 after 5 overs.

16:16(IST)

WICKET! KL Rahul departs! Poor shot, playing away from the body, he gets an inside edge and it clatters onto the stumps. His feet didn't move at all, he will be disappointed with that. Rahul departs for 7, Gamage gets the wicket. India 7/1.

16:12(IST)

Lakmal and Gamage not making the job any tougher for Indian openers here, they are not making them play enough and both Vijay, Rahul are happy to leave anything outside the off stump.

16:05(IST)

Five runs off the first over for India, KL Rahul gets a single off the last ball and India are 5/0 after the 1st over.

16:01(IST)

FOUR! Off the mark with a boundary, KL Rahul gets a stylish boundary to start his innings. This shows how good the pitch is.

15:59(IST)

So, India will have to play 8 overs before end of the day, that period which the openers hate..KL Rahul and Murali Vijay are on the field though to face the challenge!

15:49(IST)

WICKET! That's it, all over for Sri Lanka, Herath departs now, Ashwin gets the wicket, gets an edge and Rahane takes a great catch at first slip, it was low but he followed the ball beautifully. SL are all out for 205 here.

15:47(IST)

WICKET! Ishant Sharma strikes! What a delivery, pitches and moves away from the bat. Lakmal trying to poke at it but he gets a thin inside edge and the ball carries to Saha. Ishant doing the job Kohli bought him on for. Lakmal departs for 19, SL 205/9. Ishant gets his third wicket of the day.

15:46(IST)

Pujara standing in the catching position between the non-striker and the umpire, rather interesting fielding position from Virat Kohli as Ishant Sharma comes back into the attack. India going for pace to wipe the tail here. Lakmal though is continuing to go for his shots, get another boundary away, he is on 17 off 24 balls.

15:39(IST)

Lakmal seems to be going for the long handle, he connects one and the ball bounces just short of the boundary. SL closing in on 200, they are 199/8 at the moment.

15:36(IST)

Herath will be looking to repeat his heroics of 1st Test, SL really need a big total here, they looked set for a score of around 300 but the Indian spinners have got their mojo back in this game after a quiet outing in Kolkata!

15:33(IST)

Every ball is an event now, Indian spinners totally dominant at the moment, Lakmal going for an ugly heave towards the leg side which he connects and Sri Lanka get a much needed boundary. India totally on top though at the moment.

15:24(IST)

OUT: Horrendous shot from Chandimal and he pays for it with his wicket. Chandimal went for the reverse hit off the bowling of Ashwin, but the ball crashed into his pads. Umpire said not out but Kohli opted to use the DRS. Replays showed that the ball was indeed hitting the wicket. So, Chandimal departs for 57 and SL lose their eighth wicket now.

15:18(IST)

OUT: Ravindra Jadeja picks his third wicket of the innings as he gets rid of Dilruwan Perera. Jadeja bowled a straighter one and the ball hit him right in front of the wicket and the umpire gave him out. But Dilruwan opted to use the DRS, against the wishes of skipper Chandimal. Replays showed it was plumb and he had to go for 15. Sri Lanka: 187/7

15:12(IST)

Skipper Virat Kohli will be really happy with the way his two premier spinners have bowled in the final innings of the day. Both Ashwin and Jadeja now have two wickets a piece in the innings. Ashwin proves to be a bit expensive there as he gives 6 runs from the over. Sri Lanka: 180/6.

15:07(IST)

DRS: Jadeja thought he got his third wicket of the day when the ball hit the pads of Dilruwan and umpire gave it out LBW. Dilruwan asked for a review and it was overturned as replays showed that the ball had hit his bat first. Sri Lanka: 174/6.

15:04(IST)

Dropped: Not an easy chance this by any stretch of the imagination but Pujara drops a chance at short leg. Ashwin bowls from around the wicket and Dilruwan simply flicks it. There was hardly any time for Pujara to react and the ball popped out of his hands. Just one run came from the over, Sri Lanka: 168/6.

15:02(IST)

This is simply excellent bowling from the two Indian spinners as they are hunting in pairs at the moment. After a bad first Test, both Ashwin and Jadeja are bowling beautifully at the moment. Jadeja now gives away just two runs from his over. Sri Lanka: 167/6.

14:57(IST)

OUT: R Ashwin picks his second wicket of the innings as he castles Shanaka for 2. Ashwin bowls a straighter one from around the wicket and Shanaka fails to spot it. The ball crashes into the off stump. Also, just one run came from that over. Sri Lanka: 165/6.

14:53(IST)

Jadeja now bowls his fourth maiden of his innings. The two Indian spinners are bowling well in tandem at the moment. Since the dismissal of Dickwella, Chandimal has also gone into his shell a bit. Sri Lanka: 164/5.

14:51(IST)

Chance: Ashwin bowls a classic off spinner from around the wicket and the ball taken an edge of the bat of Shanaka but is lands safely, away from the leg-slip. Just two runs came from that Ashwin over and Indian bowlers are firmly on top at the moment. Sri Lanka: 164/5.

14:47(IST)

Jadeja seems to have found his groove and he troubling the batsman with every delivery that he bowls. The southpaw now bowls a maiden over and Shanaka was on the back-foot right through the over. Sri Lanka: 162/5.

14:44(IST)

OUT: Dickwella loses his concentration after tea as right after Chandimal reached his fifty, the southpaw throws away his wicket. Reckless shot from the soutpaw off the bowling of Jadeja and the ball goes high in the air and Ishant takes an easy catch at mid-off. Sri Lanka lose their fifth wicket.

14:42(IST)

50: Chandimal reaches his fifty with a single and this is his 14th Test half-century in the longest format of the game. The skipper is leading from the front under tough circumstances.

14:39(IST)

Ashwin bowls the first over after tea and he gives away six runs from it. Dickwella drives the ball through the covers and the ball sneaks underneath Jadeja for a boundary. Good start by the visitors after the break. Sri Lanka: 157/4.

14:15(IST)

8 runs from the Umesh over as Chandimal strikes two boundaries to end the session. Really positive batting in the second session here from the Lankans after a safety-first approach from them in the opening session. Sri Lanka's score reads 151/4 at TEA. Chandimal is batting on 47 and Dickwella on 18.

14:09(IST)

One bad delivery from Umesh Yadav and it has been dispatched emphatically by Dickwella. Umesh bowls short and wide and the southpaw cuts the ball past he point fielder for a boundary. A single in the last ball means five runs comes from this over and Dickwella is continue to take strike. Sri Lanka: 137/4.

14:05(IST)

Ashwin is going through his overs very quickly and now he bowls his 6th maiden over of the innings. Chandimal, who otherwise has looked very positive today, was content with just defending the ball and didn't take any risk in the over. Sri Lanka: 132/4.

The other change in the Indian XI will be at the top of the order with opener Murali Vijay joining Lokesh Rahul after Shikhar Dhawan asked for a break due to personal reasons. Going into the second game, India will be brimming with confidence with the form of skipper Virat Kohli, whose fighting 50th international hundred in trying conditions at the Eden almost sealed the deal in the hosts' favour.
