Kakamigahara (Japan):  The Indian women's hockey team won the Asia Cup crown with a 5-4 win over China in a shootout and qualified for next year's World Cup, here on Sunday.

The score was 1-1 at full-time after China found a 47th-minute equaliser through Tiantian Luo to cancel out Navjot Kaur's goal in the 25th minute.

The triumph of the Indian women's team follows the Asia Cup victory of the men's side last month.

India had last won the Asia Cup in 2004 when they had beaten Japan in New Delhi in final.

South Korea secured third place with a 1-0 win over Japan earlier in the day.
