Woman aspirant for Nagar Palika chairperson’s post arrested
Hurling derogatory comments at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during a public meeting during the ongoing civic polls proved costly for an Independent candidate in Mahoba on Friday night. A woman aspirant for Nagar Palika chairperson’s post was arrested along with her father and booked for violation of Model Code of Conduct. They were later released on bail.
As per reports, Shakila Banu aka Maha Bharati used objectionable words against Modi and Yogi during her address on Friday evening. She was seeking vote from the public and was criticising the present BJP regime for making the life of the common man hellish.
She said that under the BJP regime, all cities were stinking as heaps of garbage were strewn everywhere and the people are finding it tough even to get potable water or electricity. She also attacked the Yogi government for poor law and order situation.
As soon as the meeting ended, the news of Banu using objectionable remarks against Modi and Yogi spread like wild fire and within no minutes, hundred of BJP supporters gathered outside Kotwali police station and staged a demonstration demanding action against the candidate.
Sensing the resentment among the BJP workers, the police registered a case for violation of Model Code of Conduct and arrrested Banu and her father Iqbal Khan from Alha Chowk area late on Friday night. The cops claimed that action was taken as both held meeting without taking permission. Later the duo was released on bail.
