Arsenal news: Wenger’s Invincibles v Guardiola’s Man City? Ashley Cole picks who would win

ARSENAL’s Invincibles would come out on top if they faced Pep Guardiola’s current Manchester City side.

Arsenal news: Wenger's Invincibles would beat Guardiola's Man City, says Cole

That is the view of former Arsenal left-back Ashley Cole, who won the Premier League twice during his time with the Gunners.

Manchester City are currently unbeaten in the Premier League after 13 games this season.

Guardiola’s men are eight points clear of second-placed Manchester United and their form has led to many claiming they can go the whole season without losing.

Arsenal were the last and only team to do that in the Premier League era, when Arsene Wenger led his side to the title in the 2003/04 season.

I think the Invincibles would win. I think I have to say that. No, no bias

Cole cannot see many similarities between that side and Manchester City, apart from the fact City are yet to lose this term.

“Not too sure about similarities but so far they’ve got the zero for the losses, so you can compare on that front,” he told ESPN.

“But they’re playing well, they’ve kind of clicked and connected now. But who knows?

“It is tough to go 38 games unbeaten, can they do it? Who knows? But it’s looking good for them now.”

Arsenal news: Man City have been compared to the Invincibles this season

Cole left Arsenal in acrimonious circumstances in 2006, joining rivals Chelsea after turning down a new contract.

He is still hated to this day by many Gunners supporters for his actions, but he would still stick by his infamous side over Guardiola’s current crop.

“I think the Invincibles would win,” Cole said.
