Leopard found dead in Gurugram’s Taoru forest
A five-year-old male leopard was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Taoru forest area in Nuh district on Friday afternoon.
Acting on the information, a rescue team reached the spot and found the animal dead. The team noticed injuries on the animal’s head and face suggesting that it could have fallen from the mountain in search of water.
“The body of the animals has been sent for the post-mortem examination and report is awaited to ascertain the exact cause of death,” said District Forest Officer Shyam Sunder Kaushik.
“We have constituted a team of experts to investigate and a panel of three doctors for the post-mortem examination,” he said.
The Wildlife Department is yet to reach any conclusion whether the leopard was involved in a fight or he fell from the mountain area in search of water.
Meanwhile, the forest department has ordered a probe to find out if the leopard was beaten to death or was injured in a fight with another animal in the adjoining forest area.
