When is the best time to end a relationship if both people in it are convinced there is no hope for it to work? My girlfriend and I have been discussing this for three months now, but we simply haven't been able to take that final step.
If the feeling is mutual, I suppose the sooner it ends the better for both people involved. Why put off the inevitable? The sooner it ends, the faster you can both move on.
My boyfriend recently went on an office trip with his colleagues and, since his return, has been behaving strangely with me. I can't pinpoint what it is about him that's different, but I suspect he had an affair or something with a colleague and is feeling guilty about it. I want him to be honest because, if something like this happened and he admitted it, I would try and understand him, but this strange behaviour is making it hard for me to even have a normal conversation with him. I don't want to end this relationship because I really do love him and I think he loves me a lot too. What should I do?
If you think there is something bothering him, doesn't it seem rather unfair to assume it's an affair? Why do you believe this is about something so serious when it could just as well be something minor and unrelated to another woman? It's obvious that there is something on his mind, so I suggest you give him time to come to terms with it, after which he may choose to tell you about it of his own accord. If you both create an environment that encourages sharing and transparency, you may also be able to avoid a similar situation from cropping up in the future. Ending the relationship is a drastic move you should fall back upon only in the event of you both failing to communicate over a prolonged period of time.
