Lukaku in the clear over Bong clash

2017-11-28 10:02

Cape Town - Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku will not face retrospective action over an incident involving Brighton defender Gaetan Bong on Saturday.

Lukaku was alleged to have kicked out at Bong on two occasions during United's 1-0 win at Old Trafford, just prior to Ashley Young's deflected shot going in off Lewis Dunk.

After the clash had gone unnoticed by referee Neil Swarbrick, the Football Association requested for it to be reviewed by a panel of three former officials on Monday.

However, the three-man panel could not agree that the Belgium international had committed an offence and he will therefore not be charged with violent conduct.

Lukaku has registered 11 goals and four assists in 19 appearances across all competitions for Jose Mourinho's side since making the switch from Everton during the last transfer window, although he's only found the back of the net once in his last 10 outings.
