NGO asks Harish Rao to intervene

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad based NGO, Save Our Urban Lakes sent a mail to Irrigation minister, T Harish Rao on Monday alleging that in violation of court orders, construction of a graveyard is being conducted on the lake bed of Yerrakunta lake near Shameerpet and demanded that strict action should be taken against concerned government officials responsible for ensuring that the court orders are followed.

Also, a complaint has been filed on the issue in Lokayukta. As per SOUL, in the government authorities have cited ‘political pressure’ as a reason for not being able to stop illegal construction of graveyard in the lake, in spite of clear orders from Medchal Collector.
