Principal Secretary (Health) Poonam Malakondaiah, on sidelines of her official visit to Tirupati, inspected the Paediatric and Maternity wards at SVRR Government General Hospital, here on Monday.
Reviewing the case studies and status of government schemes, Ms. Malakondaiah asserted that the hospital had improved its medical services, quite remarkably, compared to the previous years. She further said that the state government, taking stock of the number of patients, would be supplying the concerned medicines to the government hospitals. Further reviewing the medical services in the past year, Ms. Malakondaiah said that they have taken the necessary precautions to address the dengue fevers at Madanapalle and other areas of the district.
“We have also roped in support from MCT and TUDA officials to see that the disease would not spread, taking into considerations the previous issues,” she added. She also said that they would be setting up a special centre for ELISA test in Chittoor district and also commence 'tele-ophthalmology' system across the state.
With respect to the developments at Ruia hospital, Ms. Malakondaiah said that they would be soon starting paediatric and cardio- thoracic OT and address the staff shortage and other demands of the hospital management. Meanwhile, AP Junior Doctors Association submitted a memorandum to Ms. Malakondaiah urging the state government to issue state-wide orders to enhance the existing laws against 'quackery', review stipend hike, retain maternity hospital building for super speciality courses and skill lab along with a round-the-clock central lab and MRI scanning facility.
