Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Maan Ki Baat’ last week was an eye opener and reminder to all of us that India is a country of immense diversity and we have to live with it. His warning to the fake cow protectors who are trying to create an atmosphere of fear and hate will definitely help the Government and its stakeholders to send a message to the affected communities-both the Dalits and the Muslims, that there is no need to be panic. Fear mongering brought by these elements must be stopped and this reflects regressive mentality of some of those who do not want the nation to forge ahead.
This is the time now the State Governments must strengthen their vigilant campaigns by deploying enough forces and intelligence services so that no particular community is either targeted or harassed unnecessarily. Alongside, the Prime Minister has very rightly told the nation that cattle is the country’s wealth and not a burden. Cattle serves us and they have been a part of our socio-cultural life for ages. Hence creating tension and chaos in the name of cow protection must be condemned and the perpetrators of this crime should be brought to the book.
It must be said forthrightly that India needs development followed by incremental set of reforms across all sectors in days to come. One of the most significant and indeed historic one that the Modi Government has brought is the GST Bill which is soon going to be law. Besides the Government must address the rising unemployment issue as a generation of youths are awaiting their first job. Development is the key to many to herald immediate change to some of the crucial problems of the nation, if not all. Surely, the negative effects of developments are always there but it must be minimized by the Government.
Therefore, India needs an extremely peaceful atmosphere and the Government under the leadership of Modi is working hard to achieve these targets. Why can’t we all help him? Let him perform and we all need to exercise a sense of restraint so that the Government gets enough opportunity to serve us. A line of appeal to the honourable Prime Minister is that he must ensure timely intervention in case any emergency or incident takes place which may directly or indirectly affect our socio-cultural fabric. We are a very sensitive nation and he knows it much better than all of us.
