Donkeys spend four days behind bars in Uttar Pradesh's Urai jail for a laughable crime

On Monday, convicts of an altogether different breed walked out of the Urai jail in Uttar Pradesh's Jalaun district. It was a herd of eight donkeys.
Their crime? Well, they were accused and convicted for destroying expensive plants outside the jail compound.
The four-legged offenders ended up spending four days behind bars for their crime. According to reports, the plants eaten up by the donkeys had cost the jail authorities several lakh rupees.
Head constable RK Mishra while speaking to ANI said, "These donkeys had destroyed some very expensive plants which our senior officer had arranged for planting inside jail and despite warnings the owner let loose his animals here so we detained the donkeys."
The criminals were finally let off only after local BJP leader Shakti Gahoi paid the bail amount at the behest of the owner of the donkeys. The concerned owner waited anxiously as his donkeys walked out of prison.
Kamlesh, the owner of the donkeys said, "I came here to get my donkeys released. Eight of them were locked for four days."
