Claims KCR failed to fulfill promises made before 2014 polls

Telangana Legislative Council Leader of Opposition Mohammed Ali Shabbir said people of the State are getting ready to teach a befitting lesson in the next elections to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and his ruling party TRS not fulfilling promises made in 2014.

No section of society -- dalits, women, religious minorities, farmers, youth and students -- is happy with the 42- month governance of the TRS and they have realised that people were grossly deceived by Mr. Rao promising ‘heaven’, he added while addressing Congress party workers here on Tuesday.

Farmers were of the view that with the loan waiver scheme they had not received any benefit as it was done in four phases resulting in increase in the amount of interest on the principal nullifying the net impact, he added.

Mr. Shabbir Ali said that it was the Congress Government which paved the way for the supply of 24-hour power as they laid foundation for several power projects. However, the TRS leadership was claiming it as its greatness and made it possible as they had serious concern over the issues of farmers and public, he exclaimed.

Calling upon the Congress workers to be ready for any kind of fight with the Government despite any amount of repression from the police, he said the party which had always been on the side of farmers would go to any extent to bail them out of troubles. Therefore, it already announced ₹2 lakh loan waiver and Minimum Support Price plus bonus to every crop if it comes to power, he said.

Presiding over the meeting the party Yellareddy constituency in-charge N. Surender alleged that the local MLA E. Ravinder Reddy was unleashing terror against the Congress cadres by foisting cases on them. However, the Congress would stand by them and face them with courage, he said.

Former MP Suresh Kumar Shetkar said agriculture land once given to tribal people could not be taken back by any Government and appealed to them not to bow to the pressure being exerted by the TRS for votes. “The TRS leaders are resorting to cheap tricks fearing opposition from tribal people,” he said.

Congress party leaders Jamuna Rathod, Pratap Reddy and others also spoke.
