US forensic artist Joe Mullins studied recent photos of Harry and Meghan to predict what a son and daughter of the royal couple could look like.

In their first interview since announcing the engagement, Harry and Meghan revealed they plan to start a family "in the near future".

The couple said they are "taking it one step at a time”, and when asked during an interview with the BBC, Harry responded: “Not currently, no. 

“No, of course, you know, I think one step at a time, and hopefully we'll start a family in the near future.”

The images from artist Mr Mullins predicts the couple’s possible future sons or daughters will inherit their parents’ good looks.

Prince Harry is famous for his fiery red hair - a royal trait that dates back as far as King Henry VIII - but Meghan has dark brown hair colour.

And the split is reflected in the portraits - with ‘mini Harry’ sporting a bright red mop as ‘min Meghan’ follows her mother with gorgeous dark locks.

Eye colour can be difficult to determine - as it is based not only on child’s parents’ genes, but also their ancestors with up to 15 genes playing a part.

While children of black, Asian or Hispanic parents usually end up having dark eyes, there’s every chance Meghan and Harry’s children could have blue eyes.

Again, in these images the possibility is split as the young boy sports blue eyes and the young girl hazel.

Babies are very often born with blue or blue-grey eyes – which then change to green, hazel or even dark brown.

And Mr Mullins images clearly show the royal tots taking after their mum and dad, with the little girl sporting perfectly manicured eyebrows and a gleaming American smile just like Meghan’s.

While the boy definitely takes after his father, with a cheeky smile and Prince Charles’ ears apparent.

But whatever their features, it is likely the new Royal heirs will be tall as Harry is 6ft 2ins (189cm) and Meghan Markle is 5ft 7ins (171cm).

Online predictor www.babypicturemaker.com said if the couple were to have a male child, he would grow up to be 6ft 1ins (186cm) and a girl would be 5ft 8ins (173cm).

While shorter than Harry, the Royal offspring would be still be taller than the UK average, which stands at 5ft 10ins (178cm) for men and 5ft 5ins (164cm) for women.

Bookies put the odds of Harry and Meghan announcing she is expecting a child at 10/1 at the start of the year.

The couple are due to wed in spring 2018, which is also when baby number three is due for Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge.

St George's Chapel in Windsor has been tipped as the venue for the wedding and speculation is rife that Prince Harry and Meghan will tie the knot on April 20 after Windsor Castle posted on its website that it will be closed to the public.

The State apartments will also be closed on April 19 and April 21 as well.

It is unusual for Windsor Castle to be closed entirely to the public.
