Senior scribes of the State said that perhaps the biggest challenge before media in the present days was to maintain dissemination of truth. During a seminar organized by the PR department of district administration on the occasion of national media day, senior journalists from State Capital, district headquarter and reporters of different blocks shared their views on the topic “Challenges before the media” here on Saturday.
The seminar was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Ravishankar Shukla, senior journalists from Ranchi Vijay Bhaskar, Pradeep Singh, Deputy Director PRD Annand and others by lighting the lamp.
Addressing the media persons of Hazaribagh district Bhaskar said that every new day a new challenge appears before the media persons. It is not a new process but since old times too it was a truth. Talking in details about the history of media and media persons Bhaskar said that Gandhiji who had also worked for the media has said that whatever be the condition a media man should always take care of his duties without compromising with his moral. Citing famous mediaman Hawkins that greed can derail you from your path Bhaskar added that we need to frame some rules and regulations for ourselves.
Pradeep Singh said that the greatest challenge before media and media man today was to maintain the credentials. He advised the media persons that to maintain the trust of the readers we should always be in touch of good libraries and books.
DC Ravishankar Shukla said that media plays an important role in filling the gap between the government and common people as a bridge. He said that nowadays social media has also become a source of providing news but the experience says that the credibility of social media going down and down more than the pace of its rise.
News persons of Hazaribagh Abhijeet Sen, Jafrullah Sadique, Prassan Mishra and others also addressed the gathering of mediamen especially from the rural areas of the district. Director PR Department Annand Ji who had initiated the seminar introducing the topic finally concluded that it can be said that the inference of this seminar is “Maintaining Trust is the biggest challenge before the media”.
