Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that the club have started a campaign entitled 'No Violence against Women and Children' which will run until December 10.

According to the club's official website, the theme of the 16 days of activism initiative is 'Count me in: Together moving a non-violent South Africa forward.'

"Abuse constitutes any behaviour that causes fear, bodily harm and a person doing things against your will," a statement read.

"Forms of abuse include child abuse, rape, emotional abuse, physical abuse, sexual harassment and financial abuse.

"It is important to note as well that the 16 Days Campaign should not be viewed as a stand-alone event.

"It is just one leg of the #356Days of Activism Campaign and #CountMeIn, which aims to mobilise members of society, especially men, to join hands in the fight to curb Violence Against Women."

Meanwhile, Chiefs midfielder George Maluleka is fully behind the campaign.

He said, "There is a lot going on in our country. We must all show that we are against the abuse of women and children, because that’s just not on.

"We are all equal as human beings and we need to have respect for each other."
